Step 1: Prep Your Toppings
Thinly slice the red onion and chop the herbs.
Set out your sauces and extras (like fried onions, cheese, and jalapeños) so you’re ready to assemble quickly.
Step 2: Cook the Hot Dogs
Grill, pan-sear, or boil the hot dogs—whatever works best for you.
I personally love a slight char from the grill or cast iron for added smokiness.
Cook for 6–8 minutes until heated through and evenly browned.
Step 3: Toast the Bun
Lightly butter the inside of each bun.
Toast them on a hot pan or grill for 1–2 minutes until golden and crisp.
Step 4: Assemble Your Masterpiece
Place one hot dog into each bun.
Layer with cheese (it’ll melt slightly on the warm dog—so good!), onions, and jalapeños.
Drizzle with mustard, ketchup, and mayo in a zigzag pattern.
Sprinkle crispy onions and herbs on top for the final touch.
