- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 200g fresh salmon (sashimi-grade)
- 2 sheets nori (optional)
- Soy sauce for dipping
- Wasabi (optional)
- 1/4 avocado, sliced (optional)
- Spicy mayo (optional)
Prepare the rice: Rinse the sushi rice until the water runs clear. Cook according to the package instructions, then mix with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt while it’s still warm.
Prepare the salmon: Slice the salmon into thin, bite-sized pieces.
Form the sushi: Wet your hands with a little water. Take a small ball of rice and shape it into an oval. Top each rice ball with a slice of salmon.
Optional add-ons: Add a small slice of avocado or drizzle with spicy mayo for an extra flavor kick.
Serve: Place the sushi on a serving plate with a side of soy sauce and wasabi for dipping.
Make sure to use sashimi-grade salmon for the best quality and safety when consuming raw fish.
For a slightly more complex sushi, try adding a thin slice of avocado or a dash of spicy mayo on top of the salmon.
Adjust the amount of soy sauce and wasabi according to your personal preference.
